We had a very relaxing, lovely and enjoyable long Easter weekend. On Saturday, we helped Cara (our 19 yr old daughter who is studying in Hanover) move into a new apartment. She now has a roommate, Anna, who is also majoring in Life Science. I can only say, I am tired of moving!!! On Sunday, we drove to the Baltic Sea and spent the afternoon in Grömitz and later drove around a few German coastal towns - Sierksdorf, Niendorf and Timmendorfer Strand. On Easter Monday, we spent the day at Schaalsee (Lake Schaal) in Zarrentin, an UNESCO biosphere reserve - I was totally blown away by this reserve!! It's about an hour's drive from where we live, and I shall definitely like to visit this reserve more often and explore the area.
Imagine that I was away from my torch for at least five days!! I of course began lampworking early in the morning yesturday and didn't stop till around midnight. I tried to lampwork simple floral beads (the basics of floral beads where you put 4-5 dots and plunge in the middle of the dots) but they failed miserably and I went back to making Paper Roses and Taj beads, they turned out as I expected. It was a day of experiments too but I think I was tired towards the end and my mind was fixed on Paper Roses/Taj.
Below are beads I made over the past week and yesturday.
Today was another day off at the torch, brought our retriever, Sandy, to the dog salon for the first time in his life, he will be turning 12 next month. I have always shampooed him in the garden and decided not to do it anymore since we no longer live in a house with a yard and it is rather backbreaking washing him. He definitely looks like a puppy again with his coat trimmed, shampooed and stripped. Here's what he looks like after his spa treatment.
